Calgary, AB
David Belcourt is a Métis, contemporary painter based in Calgary, Alberta.
In the pursuit to understand oneself, painting and drawing have always been David's primary literacy. Through the discipline of visual art, he makes sense of his purpose, both internally and to the environment that surrounds him. As my focus is often divided over a number of series at any given time, his process is to navigate through conflict continuously challenge myself, and encourage critical thought.

As we approach the dawn of the latest technology revolution, how are humans going to
navigate it?
Technology/A I. The information age has progressed rapidly to a point where machine
learning is a reality. Computers that are actively learning learning and improving at an
execrated rate.
What does having this technology mean, for humans. How will this technology
affect our everyday lives. Although A I, has existed for about seventy years, it appears that we
are now rapidly advancing its capabilities. One can only sense that the dawn of this revolution
is about to break. In this moment, all kinds of thoughts and emotions create anticipation of its
arrival in full bloom. With every new technology, there are pros and cons. How are we as
individuals prepared to embrace A I, so that we can reach our fullest potential. For me, that
means, welcoming it full heartedly. However, doing it without forgetting about or denouncing
knowledge of the past.
The Lotus Flower. The flower of Dawn, is optimism for the future. In general, the Lotus
Flower symbolizes purity, spiritual enlightenment and rebirth. Rising up from the darkness into
beauty and rebirth. The different colours of the flower have their own particular meaning, from
which the view of this work can make.
